Film showing: These Streets Are Watching
Winnipeg Copwatch is hosting a screening of the film “These Streets are Watching”. The 50 minute film takes a fresh look at police accountability through the eyes of three communities; Denver, Cincinnati and Berkeley.

Admission is sliding scale (cash or donations in kind are needed for equipment such as video cameras, still cameras, audio recording devices, film, and so on.)
There will be popcorn and soda and a few silent auction prizes.
What is Copwatch? Copwatch Winnipeg was formed in August 2006 to provide support for communities that experience police misconduct. The group’s goals are to witness police interactions with citizens, to listen to stories of police misconduct, to inform people of their legal rights, and to provide support during their LERA complaint process. The hope is that the mere presence of a group watching the police will result in fewer instances of abuse. In addition to conducting their own police monitoring, Copwatch hopes that other citizens will feel empowered to become cop watchers, to make the actions of the police their business. It is hoped that every citizen of this city will take on the responsibility of ensuring police accountability.
