Palestinian-American author and editor Ali Abunimah will be giving a talk entitled “One Country: A Bold Proposal to End the Israeli-Palestinian Impasse.” Abunimah is on a cross-Canada lecture tour in September, promoting his new book (of the same title). He is the co-founder and editor of the Electronic Intifada website since 2001, and more recently, of Electronic Iraq and Electronic Lebanon, all notable for their mixture of critical historical and political analysis, first-hand reporting from the Middle East, human rights reports, as well as literary and film criticism, and other arts and entertainment pieces. A graduate of Princeton University and the University of Chicago, Abunimah is a prolific writer and frequent media guest. He has written for, among others, the Chicago Tribune, the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times, and the Israeli daily Ha’aretz. The goal of the event is to raise awareness, encourage dialogue, and stimulate discussion, about meaningful solutions to one of the world’s most long-standing and seemingly-intractable conflicts. The event will give people in Winnipeg a rare opportunity to hear an informed, thoughtful, ethical, and articulate Palestinian perspective by one of the leading voices of the Palestinian diaspora in North America.

Tickets: $5 at the door (to cover costs of event).
